Patterson-Kelly Vacuum Tumble Dryer

The vacuum system is designed to initially evacuate the vessel. After evacuation the pump handles only non-condensables leaking into the system. Vapor released from the material passes to the condenser where it is liquefied, and the vacuum is maintained. Note that granular material is ideal for this dryer.
