            This transverse slicer is used for crosscut slicing of elongated fruits and vegetables. It cannot process sticky or candied products. The maximum input product size is 2¾”. The product to be cut is dropped into a hopper through which it feeds onto two high-speed conveyor belts. A third conveyor belt then comes down over the top to complete the product enclosure. The product then enters the slicing wheel. In the slicing wheel the knives serve as spokes and support the rim of the wheel. The knives are very thin and under several hundred pounds of tension. The pitch of the knives determines the thickness of the slice and maintains the speed of the product while it is being sliced.
